In adwords it’s possible to select all the keywords and change their max. CPC bids with a single click. If you select all the keywords of a campaign or an ad group and then click on Edit -> Change max. CPC bids, you will see something like the following image:
After that, if you click on Action’s drop down box, you will find five options:
- Set max. CPC bids to – This is the bid you specify to determine the maximum amount that you are consenting to pay for a simple click on your ad. With this option you can set max. CPC bids to a certain amount. Google will not charge you more than that amount. Please note, you will not be charged maximum amount every time someone clicks on your ad.
- Increase max. CPC bids by – With this option, you can increase max. CPC bids by a percentage. You can also set “upper bid limit“. Please note, you don’t have to put (+) plus sign before the percentage value. Just put the number. Following image is just an example:
- Decrease max. CPC bids by – With this option, you can decrease max. CPC bids by a percentage. You can also set “lower bid limit“. Please note, you don’t have to put (-) minus sign before the percentage value. Just put the number. Following image is just an example:
- Raise to estimated top of page bid – This will raise all your keywords bids to estimated top of page bid. People can see maximum 3 ads on the top of the Google search page.
- Raise to estimated first page bid – This will raise all your keywords bids to estimated first page bid.
But what is missing?
Well, let’s say my client’s previous digital marketing company set max. CPC bids way too high for all the keywords (let’s assume all keywords max. CPC bids are much higher than estimated top of page bid). As a result my client is loosing too much money and ROI is at break even point! At this stage, they appointed us to make a better ROI.
Now as we have identified what’s costing our client the most, we want to decrease max. CPC bids to estimated top of page bid or estimated first page bid. As there are like 1000s of keywords, it will be very time consuming for us to manually change all the keywords max. CPC bids…
We were thinking how we could make this massive change with a single mouse click? We want to decrease all 1000 keywords max. CPC bids to estimated top of page or estimated first page bid. But as for now, there is no option in adwords to do so!
That’s the reason we have made following video tutorial and submitted to Google Adwords implementation team:
Our Tricks!
As it was not possible for us to manually change all the keywords max. CPC bids so we did this:
- First, we selected all the keywords and set max. CPC bids to €0.01 (this value is lowest right?)
- Second, we selected all the keywords and set max. CPC bids to top of page bid with “raise to estimated top of page bid” function!
If we needed to set max. CPC bids to first page bid, we would use “raise to estimated first page bid” function!
I know this is not the perfect solution but for now it’s the best option for everyone who wants to decrease large number of keywords max. CPC bids to estimated top of page or first page bid with a single click!
Best tutorial ever!
