A moment ago, I have found something interesting in my Google Webmaster tool (Google search console) account. When I logged in to my Google webmaster tool account, I saw most of my sites were unverified! I verified all my sites myself and when I saw these status I was really horrified!
Immediately I log in to my SEO Website and sub-domains i.e. SEO Blog, SEO Directory and other websites i.e. Article lovers and Dhaka Stock Exchange Blog
For your information, I am using Yoast SEO plugin for all my sites but recently they are updating their plugin frequently and it’s really annoying to update this plugin once in a week!
I navigated to Yoast dashboard and clicked on “Webmaster Tool” tab and saw meta tag values for all webmaster tools (Bing, Google and Yandex) for all my sites. So, why I was getting “unverified” status in search console?
You will get the answer soon. Anyway, I re-verified every website of mine. As everything was set in Yoast plugin, I just needed to click on “Verify this property” link in search console to verify all the sites. I did it and all my sites were verified again.
I updated all my sites plugins including Yoast in the meantime and after 5-10 minutes I refreshed my Google search console panel. Surprisingly, I saw one of my sites which I verified a moment ago showing “unverified” status. I again re-verified the site.
At first I thought it was Google issue. To be 100% sure, I checked my another Google Search Console account (This account I use for my clients) and saw there was nothing wrong. Everything was fine. None of the sites were giving “unverified” message. Please note, my clients websites are NOT built on “WordPress”. But all my websites are built on WordPress and I have “Yoast SEO plugin” installed for all my sites.
So bascially there would be two possible reasons:
- It’s a Yoast Plugin issue. They are updating their plugins all the time and their reviews are already down to 4. Whenever they make a change in the plugin, Google search console can’t verify the site.
- It’s WordPress issue. But it’s hard to believe. If I had a WordPress site without Yoast SEO Plugin installed, I would tell it for sure.
Therefore, if you have a WordPress website and if you see unverified message (though you have done verification before) for your site in Google Webmaster Tool / Search Console, don’t panic! You just need to re-verify your site with a mouse click!
I have seen an interesting change in Google Webmaster tool that I can’t restrain to share. Earlier, they recommend HTML file upload method but recently they are recommending HTML Tag method. Which is great!
Do you have a WordPress website with Yoast SEO plugin installed? Please check your Google search console and let me know if you have also found “unverified” status for your site(s)!
