Feeling shocked? When I first learn about it I was shocked too. But it’s the reality. Fatcow doesn’t support magento installation in shared plan. If you are going to buy Fatcow shared plan for magento hosting…don’t! You will waste your money!
Here is the chat transcript of my conversation with one of the rep’s of Fatcow:
Adarsha N: Hi Ekhlas I apologize for the wait time. My name is Adarsha, how are you today?
Ekhlas: I am fine.
Adarsha N: How can I help you today?
Ekhlas: I want to install magento here: SEO-Service-Provider.org/products
Ekhlas: I ran the installation process but it’s showing PHP extension “soap” must be loaded.
Ekhlas: Installation process is now stopped.
Ekhlas: What can I do?
Adarsha N: Sorry for the trouble.
Adarsha N: To provide any information associated with your account I need authentication. Please answer to the security questions:
Adarsha N: He asked me a secret question that I can’t reveal here.
Ekhlas: I answered correctly!
Ekhlas: magento 1.9.2.2 is the version
Ekhlas: Are you there?
Ekhlas: I am waiting
Adarsha N: Thank you for the authentication.
Adarsha N: Sorry for the delay.
Adarsha N: You have signed up for the shared hosting plan.
Ekhlas: and…
Adarsha N: In the shared hosting we dont support Magento.
Ekhlas: !
Ekhlas: I was not aware of that.
Adarsha N: You can go with VPS Business plan.
Adarsha N: For more information about VPS Business plan you can refer this:
Adarsha N: http://www.fatcow.com/advanced-hosting/vps.bml
Ekhlas: Where did you mention this thing when someone is registering with shared plan?
Adarsha N: Sorry, everything cant be mentioned in the home page.
Adarsha N: Also, we dont support PHP SOAP in the shared hosting.
Ekhlas: Can a new user get this info from your Terms & Condition page?
Ekhlas: It should be listed there if it’s not presented on home page
Adarsha N: I have to handoff the issue to our specialists.
Adarsha N: They will let you know about it.
Ekhlas: Did I ask something that you don’t know or aware of?
Ekhlas: I can’t find this in your terms and condition page
Ekhlas: It sounds weird that Fatcow doesn’t support magento!
Ekhlas: on shared plan
Fatcow Magento Installation? Not Possible in Shared Plan
Well if you read our previous conversation then it’s clear that Fatcow doesn’t support magento installation in shared plan. Moreover, Fatcow doesn’t support Php shop in shared hosting package. Well if you were thinking about Fatcow magento installation in your shared hosting plan or going to buy shared plan for magento installation, stop right there! Don’t go further. You will waste your time and money. There are other hosting companies that offer magento installtion in their shared hosting plan such as Bluehost (heard many good things about them), Hostgator (surprisingly Hostgator offers magento hosting in shared plan), mochahost (don’t know about their service but they are advertising in Google for magento hosting in shared plan), etc.
Fatcow however offers magento installation in VPS plan but that will be costly to most of the people. If you are looking for cheap solution for magento hosting, instead of choosing Fatcow for Magento installtion, go for Bluehost, Hostgator, Mochahost or other companies who offer reasonable price with great support. Please check their reviews before investing any money. Hope this helps!
